The LCB team finds themselves in the bounds of District 20 once more. The Golden Bough to be claimed is underneath a long-abandoned estate, supposedly untouched for years. When stating the exact location of said estate, Victor soon remarked it was her familyās former estate, but she attempted to burn it down. When questioned, she dodged giving actual answers, but instructed them to visit her funeral parlor first.
Upon arriving at Geneva Funeral Parlor, the assistant Director greets the LCB with friendly words. Assistant Director Callisto talks with the sinners about the situation with the estate, claiming a client had called from there stating their name to be Baharha, but they could not disclose further information due to confidentiality. After more prodding, Callisto breaks and tells them more details. According to them, the client was asking about if funerals can be held for anything considered āundeadā, and was calling from a number that belonged to a former Lobotomy Corporation branch.
Upon entering the estate, it became clear that its former glory was reduced to ashen ruins. Piles of ripped stuffed toys and fluff lined some walls. Party decorations were also strewn about, as well as different items clearly belonging to children. Eventually, the LCB reached where commotion was happening. There were a circle of disfigured children, now replaced with partial stuffing or bodies of smoke, surrounding a creature just barely resembling a human. It speaks to the LCB and eventually confronts Victor, claiming her to be its creator and questioning why she abandoned it.
Victor freezes in her tracks, eventually turning to run from the creature. Ishmael grabs her and holds her back, reminding her to face her consequences. Teary-eyed, Victor faces her creation and eventually kills it in one last duel. Afterward, she confessed the reality of the situation and why the creature existed. However, knowing their goal was not just to kill the creature, she prodded the group to press forward.
Entering the branch in the basement, the sinners notice a lot of machinery starting to surround different parts. The same nursery background remained, but now the children became more and more disfigured. As the sinners go forward, eventually they reach the center of the branch, where surrounding the Golden Bough was a sickly young girl in a chair calling herself Lynette.
Lynette remained quiet for the most part, having her āfatherā ā later revealed to be Baharha ā speaking on her behalf. He let go of his plans to make a āfalse god,ā using scraps of singularities he got his hands on to rebirth the city. As the sinners fight Lynette, they realize how much sheās holding back and not wanting to fight. Baharha, frustrated by this, forces Lynette to resonate with the Bough. This, in combination with the serums and tech she was being infused with, transforms her into Baal, the āfalse godā that Baharha had been aiming to create all this time, albeit still unstable. After more fighting, most of the sinners were weak, realizing that at this rate, Baal was too strong for them to handle even with all their experience. Baharha, realizing the sinners were still alive, begins to berate Baal for her failure. Eventually, she breaks and decides that she will sacrifice herself and forfeit the Golden Bough so that Baharhaās plan will fail, and the sinners can escape alive. She bestows to them a small box of orange blossoms, only carrying the wish that they see the beauty of the world. Baal thanks the sinners and guides them to the exit of the branch, then the estate. The LCB soon watch the entire crumble into a pile of debris, supposedly killing Lynette, Baharha, and all the children inside.
The sinners eventually return to the funeral parlor to tell Callisto about what they experienced. They offer the sinners dinner and some time to rest, wanting to chat with Victor. Eventually, the LCB returns to the bus, but Dante hangs onto what happened with Lynette.
